DEACON HOSPITALITY GROUP

We never set out to be a hospitality company. We’re a husband and wife team with a background in transportation and fashion. Traveling for a wedding a few years ago, we began to wonder what hospitality could look like if event spaces were updated with modern design, a community focus and guest rooms. Back in Philadelphia, a series of happy accidents led us to the historic church that would become The Deacon, and our first project was underway.

Three magazine article pages about hotels and design. The first page features an article on U.S. hotels with a photo of a colorful, modern hotel interior. The second page discusses hotelier careers with an image of a stylish, arched lobby area. The third page highlights a boutique hotel in Philadelphia with a photo of a bedroom with stained-glass windows and modern decor.

The Deacon has been featured in Condé Nast Traveler, Domino, Reveal and Philadelphia Magazine, and has been profiled by Sherwin Williams for its use of color. But more importantly, it has become a center for memorable, meaningful experiences that are inherently Philly, from weddings to culinary events. Now, with Dye House, we have applied our values of adaptive reuse and storytelling once again. The Deacon and Dye House are more than hotels and event spaces, they are gathering places that pay tribute to the neighborhoods and creative communities of which they are a part.
